Jason Benjamin Woodward charged with robbery in Winnipeg

As previously released, on November 24th, 2010 at approximately 5:00 a.m. a lone male suspect armed with a knife attended to a convenience store within the 100 block of Marion Street where he proceeded to rob a 35 year old male clerk.

The suspect received an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes before fleeing the store.

Winnipeg Police Service Uniform Members, along with the Canine Unit attended to the scene. The Canine Unit immediately began tracking and successfully located a residence within the 100 block of Eugenie Street, which the suspect had fled to.

A number of individuals had been taken into custody. As a result of an investigation by members of the Major Crimes Unit a suspect male has been arrested in connection with the above noted commercial robbery. This male is also alleged to be responsible for the following commercial robberies:

– November 8th, 2010 at approximately 11:25 a.m. a business in the 200 block of St Mary’s Road.

– November 9th, 2010 at approximately 3:40 a.m., a convenience store in the 1st 100 block of Osborne Street.

– November 12th, 2010 at approximately 4:00 a.m., a convenience store in the 100 block of Marion Street.

In each of these robberies, various amounts of cash and cigarettes were obtained and no one sustained any injuries.

Jason Benjamin WOODWARD, 20 years of Winnipeg is facing 4 counts of Robbery with a Weapon as well as 4 counts of Disguise with Intent. He has been detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
