On Wednesday, November 25th, 2010, a 12 yr. old girl disclosed to her school social worker that an older man had sexually assaulted her in the area of Hillcrest Park in the City of Hamilton. The alleged assaults took place on more then one occasion between October 12th, 2010 and November 23rd, 2010. This information was forwarded to the Hamilton Police Service and an immediate investigation was started.
Through investigation police learned the male suspect often walked his dog in the area of the park and that his dog’s name was "Buddy."
On Friday, November 27th, 2010 members of the Child Abuse Branch were in the area of Hillcrest Park during the morning hours. Police observed the male party enter into the wooded area at Hillcrest Park while walking his dog. Police approached the male and arrested him for sex related offences.
William RITCHIE is expected to appear in court today for a bail hearing.
