The Vancouver Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a man wanted Canada-wide for breaching the conditions of his release from federal custody for failing to return to his halfway house on November 25th.

Twenty-nine year old Johnny Wilfred Awasis is Aboriginal, 5’11” tall, 225 lbs., with an athletic build, short dark brown hair and brown eyes. He has a tattoo of “crips” on his left forearm, a scar over his left eyebrow, and visible acne scarring on his face. He was last seen wearing a navy blue sweatshirt over a white t-shirt and navy blue sweatpants.

Awasis is on a statutory release for a 2008 robbery. He is a first-time federal offender who has an extensive criminal history for property crimes, drugs, violence, sexual assault, and numerous failures to comply with orders. Additionally, Awasis has a history of violent assaults on female acquaintances and girlfriends and has a special condition of no contact with females under the age of 19 without prior written approval of his parole supervisor.
