The RCMP Provincial Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) have arrested a Middle Stewiacke man in a child pornography investigation.

On Friday January 9th, 2015 at approximately 7 a.m., RCMP officers of the ICE Unit with the assistance of members from the Colchester District RCMP and the RCMP Technological Crime Unit executed a residential search warrant on Kirk Road in Middle Stewiacke. Preliminary forensic analysis of devices located at the residence confirmed they contained child pornography images.

A 46-year-old man was arrested at the home without incident. He is facing a charge of Possession of Child Pornography. He was released from police custody and is to appear in Truro Provincial Court on June 3rd, 2015.

In October 2008, Nova Scotia introduced legislation making it mandatory for citizens to report suspected child pornography. This means that anyone who encounters child pornography material or recordings must report it to the police. Failing to report suspicious activity and materials could result in penalties similar to failure to report child abuse set out in the Children and Family Services Act.
