Windsor Police are searching for a woman wanted in connection with a stabbing which took place outside a bar in the city’s near west side early yesterday morning. At 1:00 a.m. on Sunday November 28, 2010, uniformed patrol officers responded to a report of a fight on the sidewalk in front of an establishment located in the 600 block of University Ave. W. The altercation had finished prior to officers arriving on the scene however, officers interviewed several witnesses who had observed the events unfold.

Officers learned that at just prior to 1:00 a.m., a 36 year old man and three women arrived outside the bar. Prior to entering the establishment, the man was confronted by a woman who was already at the bar and went outside. An argument between the man and woman took place which turned physical, resulting in the two throwing punches at one another. Several witnesses were able to break up the altercation. In the ensuing confusion, the woman involved in the altercation then directed her attention to one of the women who arrived with the man. She grabbed the 27 year old woman in a "headlock" and the two women fell to the ground continuing to struggle with each other. This altercation was also broken up by witnesses at the scene. The 27 year old woman’s friends noticed that she was bleeding from a wound to her neck and immediately took her to Hotel Dieu Hospital where it was determined that she had been stabbed at the base her neck. The victim underwent surgery for the non-life threatening injury.

The female suspect left the area in a taxi cab prior to officers arriving at the scene. The 36 year old man fled the scene on foot. No weapon has been recovered.

Police have issued an arrest warrant for the female suspect.
