According to the lawyer of the Edmonton man accused of killing a two-year-old while driving under the influence, Dino Bottos, his client, Richard Suter, was abducted and assaulted again this past Thursday. Suter’s lawyer revealed that he was abducted from his home at around 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, when the assailants knocked on his door and grabbed him when he opened it.

Bottos stated that “there was a knock on the door and that resulted in Mr. Suter being abducted from his home,” adding that “he was put into a truck or a vehicle and driven away.” Thereafter, Suter’s wife immediately reported the incident by calling 911 though sources allege the assailants were disguised as undercover police officers. The assailants drove Suter to a roadside in south Edmonton and beat him “severely” before leaving him on the roadside. Bottos said Suter had to stop and ask a passing car’s driver to call 911, after which EMS took him to the hospital. Suter is still being treated with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

According to Bottos, this is the second attack on Suter’s family in the last 18 months as he awaits trial for the 2013 incident wherein his vehicle crashed into a patio restaurant and struck a family of five. The incident took life of 2-year-old Geo Mounsef, who was pinned under the car and passed away soon after, while other four family members received non-life-threatening injuries.
