Calgary Police have announced that the ATM machine stolen by two culprits who broke into Casino Calgary on Wednesday morning did not have any money in it. According to Staff Sgt. Travis Baker, “there’s no money in the machine” and so “if they haven’t gotten into it yet, I’m sure they’re fairly disappointed right now.”

Police were first alerted about a possible robbery by the security at Casino Calgary at 1420 Meridian Road N.E. at around 6 a.m. Later on, police found that the two offenders broke and entered the building in dark clothing, using a crowbar to smash the glass doors of the casino, and headed straight for the ATM. Police have revealed the security footage showing the culprits load the ATM onto a dolly and making their way outside. According to the police, it believes that the two suspects got into a waiting vehicle believed to be a silver coloured minivan.

Explaining why the machine did not have any cash, Sgt. Baker revealed that it was in the process of being moved to a different part of the casino due to which it was out of order and contained no cash. Spokesperson for the Pure Canadian Gaming, Vince Pao, mentioned in his remarks that “there were about eight to 12 security and cleaning staff inside the closed casino, but no one had any contact with the offenders and none were injured.”
