CityNews Anchor Mark Dailey passed away today at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto at the age of 57.

Mr. Dailey had successful battled prostate cancer earlier but was diagnosed with kidney cancer earlier this year.

Mark began his broadcasting career as a radio and television reporter in Ohio in 1968. In the 1970s, he worked as police reporter and radio anchor in Detroit.

In 1974, he moved to Toronto to join CHUM and worked at CityPulse starting in 1979.

He worked as assignment editor and producer, then took over the crime beat. He became well-known for his deep, distinctive announcer’s voice, and ultimately became host of the 11 p.m. newscast.
