Man arrested for trying to kill Toronto police officer

USA: Free $30 Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…The Toronto Police Service would like to inform the public of an arrest following an assault on a police officer.

It is alleged that:

– on Friday, March 13, 2015, at approximately 4:20 p.m., a man entered the front lobby of 31 Division, at 40 Norfinch Drive

– he had a hammer and a knife

– he approached an officer in the public area of the front counter, raised the hammer above his head, and swung it at the head of an officer

– the officer was able to avoid a direct impact, but did receive a glancing blow to her head

The injured officer, and another officer who assisted with the arrest, received minor injuries and attended hospital for treatment. They have both since been released.

Norman Badria, 41, of Brampton, was arrested and has been charged with:

1) two counts of Carry Concealed Weapon
2) two counts of Weapons Dangerous
3) Assault with a Weapon
4) Attempt Murder
5) Assault Peace Officer

He is scheduled to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West on Thursday, March 19, 2015, room 306.
