DRPS credit the arrest of a Toronto man involved in a theft incident at Shopper’s Drug Mart in Oshawa this morning to keen witnesses who immediately contacted 9-1-1.

On Wednesday December 8, 2010 at approximately 2:40 a.m. Central East officers responded to an emergency call from witnesses indicating they had observed a lone male suspect enter the Shopper’s Drug Mart on Wentworth Street in Oshawa by smashing the front glass window to gain entry. Witnesses then observed this male suspect vacate the store with stolen property and enter a vehicle and flee the scene. Responding officers arrived to the vicinity and located and arrested the lone suspect, without incident.

Dale McLean, age 26 of Wingarden Court in Toronto is charged with: Break, Enter and Commit – Place Other Than Dwelling; Possess Property Obtained by Crime Exceeding $5,000; Mischief/Damage of Property Under $5,000; Theft Exceeding $5,000; Possess Break-in Instrument and Fail to Comply with Condition of Judicial Release. The accused was held for a bail hearing.
