District 2 RCMP are investigating a motor vehicle collision that occurred on the Trans-Canada highway at mile marker 280 in Hanwell, N.B., just after 4 p.m. on December 8, 2010.

A small passenger vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer and subsequently lost control, hitting a highway lamp standard, and ended up in the ditch. The vehicle was occupied by a female driver and two teenage passengers. The driver sustained serious injuries and was listed in critical condition in hospital. The two passengers sustained broken limbs, but are listed in stable condition.

The investigation into the cause of the collision is on going.
