Hamilton police make arrest in the murder of Renee Neganiwina

On Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at approximately 6:20pm the Hamilton Fire Department was called to 561 Kenilworth Ave. N. Hamilton for a house fire.  Upon extinguishing the fire, firefighters commenced a search of the home and located a victim inside an upstairs bedroom. The victim was later identified as 26-year-old Renee Neganiwina..  Neganiwina was transported to the Hamilton General Hospital but she succumbed to her injuries.

Members of the Hamilton Police Service criminal investigation branch continued to investigate in partnership with the Ontario Fire Marshall.

On Thursday March 26, 2015 at approximately 4:00am 38-year-old Joseph Snelgrove surrended himself into the Toronto Police Service. Joseph and Renee were involved in a relationship together.

Joseph Snelgrove was returned to Hamilton where he was interviewed by Detectives of the Hamilton Police Service Homicide Unit.  As a result of the investigation into the death of Renee Neganiwina the Hamilton Police Service has charged Joseph Snelgrove with Second Degree Murder.
