On Monday, December 13, 25-year-old James Carroll, of Val Comeau, was sentenced to five years in prison for a variety of sex-related offences.

Carroll was charged with possessing and producing child pornography, sexual assault, sexual touching of children under the age of 16, assault, breach of an undertaking to a peace officer and breach of probation. He is also charged with inciting children under the age of 16 to touch him and contacting a person under the age of 18 to obtain child pornography.

Carroll will be placed on the National Sex Offender Registry for 20 years. He will also be prohibited from attending places where children under the age of 16 are normally present, will be banned from working or volunteering in a capacity that places him in a position of trust or authority over children under 16, and will be prohibited from using any computer system for the purpose of communicating with children under the age of 16.
