The London Police Service recently became aware of several incidents of cell phone "sexting" in London high schools. Students have taken inappropriate photographs of themselves that are sexual in nature, and have then sent these photographs via their cell phones to their friends.

In many circumstances these photos are then forwarded on to others and are not intended to be viewed by the public. Students must be aware that even if it is unintended to be accessed by the public, it can and will be viewed by many on both cell phones and the internet.

The London Police Service cautions everyone, that possession, distribution, or production, of any photograph, of a person under the age of 18 years, of a sexual nature is a Criminal Offence.

The London Police Service is committed to educating our young persons of the risks of "sexting" and want to ensure the safety and security of all students.
