Lotto Max: $40 Million! Here are the numbers

The grand prize of Friday, December 17, 2010 has reached a staggering $40 million. Apparently last week’s draw didn’t produce a winner so the amount was rolled over. If there isn’t a winner for the forty million, we would see another rollover which could gives us a pot of $50 million on December 24. Now, what a Christmas gift that would be!

 

Even though a Max pot only rolls over to a maximum of $50 million, there are more prizes to be had. Beyond fifty million, Ontario Lottery has set up Maxmillions prizes. What this means is that if the pot grows beyond $50 million, the extra is doled out as $1 million prizes awarded for the same Max tickets. How this works is that seven numbers are drawn amongst all numbers from 1 to 49. You must match those seven numbers to win and it is possible you could share a million dollar prize. If nothing is won, it is all rolled over again however the maximum prize is never greater than $50 million.

 

Never greater than $50 million? Heck, it hardly seems worth buying a ticket. [laughs] I’d be more than satisfied with a cool million! Ah, paying off all those debts, getting rid of the mortgage; the world would be my oyster. 🙂

 

Apparently the largest Lotto Max was back in June 2010. There was a $50 million grand prize and 20 $1 million prizes for a total of $70 million.

 

There is still time to buy a ticket for Saturday 6/49 which stands t $3.5 million. That ain’t too shabby, eh? If I can’t win the Max, I would be more than satisfied with the 6/49. Ha!
