55 year old man killed in fatal traffic accident in Scarborough

On Saturday, December 18, 2010, at 10:54 p.m., police were called to the scene of a fatal collision at McCowan Road/Meldazy Drive.

It is reported that:

– a 55-year-old man, driving a Toyota Camry, was travelling northbound on McCowan Road at Meldazy Drive,

– a 36-year-old man, driving an Acura MDX, was travelling southbound on McCowan Road when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle veered left of the center line into the northbound lanes,

– the Acura struck the Toyota Camry head on, causing substantial damage to both vehicles,

As a result of the collision, the 55-year-old driver of the Toyota Camry was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 36-year-old driver of the Acura MDX was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is continuing by Traffic Services.
