Investigators with the VPD High Risk Offenders Unit are on the hunt for a sex offender who is wanted Canada-wide after failing to return to his halfway house last night.
Fifty-one-year-old Gary Vogrig is a two time federal offender on statutory release serving a four-year-six-month sentence for sexual assault and threatening. His criminal history is extensive and includes charges of uttering threats, assault, sexual assault, unlawful confinement, and robbery.
Vogrig is white, 5’11” tall, 165 lbs., shaved brown hair with a moustache and hazel eyes. He has a tattoo of a small cross on his right arm, an unfinished wolverine on his left arm and four burn marks on his left forearm. It is not known what clothing he was last wearing.
Anyone one who sees Gary Vogrig, or knows of his whereabouts, is asked not to approach him and call 9-1-1 immediately.
