On Monday December 20, 2010, 43-year-old Shawn Govang, of Moncton, was found guilty on two counts of trafficking cocaine.

The charges stem from a lengthy investigation by the RCMP’s J Division Drug Section that culminated in 2009. The investigation targeted individuals with ties to organized crime, as well as street-level drug traffickers operating in several southeastern New Brunswick communities.

A total of 10 individuals were charged. Seven were found guilty and three cases remain before the courts.

Govang is scheduled to appear in court in Moncton on January 20, 2011 for sentencing.
