Police fear Robert-Jan Planje of Chilliwack maybe dead

Police continue to search for missing 64-year-old Robert-Jan PLANJE. Investigators now fear that foul play is involved.

Investigators from the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team are looking to the public for assistance in the disappearance of 64-year-old Robert-Jan PLANJE.

PLANJE was last seen alive the on December 12, 2010. Police were called to his home in the Rainbow Trailer park to check on his well being on December 13, 2010. Once police attended PLANJE’S residence there were signs of a suspicious activity. The residence was secured and a search for PLANJE began.

Later that day police recovered items thought to be linked to the PLANJE home on Ballam Road. Ballam Road is a remote rural roadway that runs adjacent to an arm of the Fraser River in north Chilliwack.

Police have conducted an extensive search in the area along Ballam Road as well as RCMP Dive Team members have deployed into the river. The search did not locate PLANJE.

Investigators are asking the public to recall if they saw any out of the ordinary activity along Ballam Road on December 13, 2010 between 4:00 AM and 10:00 AM.

“We want to speak to everyone that may have information, no matter how insignificant you may feel the information is, it may just be the link we are looking for” says Cpl. Dale Carr of IHIT.

According to Cpl. Carr, “IHIT investigators are now focusing on the theory that PLANJE has met with foul play. They remain open minded to other theories, however, the focus is on foul play at this time.

PREVIOUSLY RELEASED INFORMATION:

On the morning of Monday December 13th, 2010 the Chilliwack RCMP were called to a residence in the 9000 block of Ashwell Road in Chilliwack BC to check on the well-being of an occupant. Police attended and found no one at the residence. Evidence of an physical altercation was located at the residence and the police are now looking for help to locate a male who lives there.

The Chilliwack RCMP are looking for Robert-Jan Planje, age 64, of Chilliwack. Police wish to speak to anyone who may have seen Planje, and to Planje himself, to confirm this well-being.

Robert-Jan Planje is described as a Caucasian male, 5’3" in height, approximately 120 pounds, with reddish blond and grey mixed colour hair and blue eyes. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Robert Planje is asked to call the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611.
