Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne arrived in Windsor on Thursday night to attend a federal election campaign event organized by the Liberal party. In an informal gathering, Wynne and about 60 local Liberal party supporters convened at the Serbian Centre, where she admitted that it was unfortunate that her party was shut out in ridings this side of London in last fall’s provincial election.

Addressing the audience including defeated Liberal Windsor West MPP Teresa Piruzza, Wynne stated that “I know that that election was bittersweet, because we won, but we didn’t win here,” adding that “and that was hard. But I know that everybody worked so hard in the Windsor ridings and I appreciate that so much. And we’ll get back. We will come back in Windsor.” At the same time, Wynne criticized the federal Conservative government and urged all those in attendance to get active for the federal Liberal party ahead of October’s election.

Wynne stated that “we are heading right now into a very important time in terms of the federal election and I know that, as I was talking to you, I know many, if not all of you are involved in the federal election in federal ridings and you will be working for the federal candidates,” adding that “and thank you for that.” Highlighting that the relationship between her government and Harper’s government is not good, she said that “it is very important to have a federal government and a provincial government that want to work together.”
