Three men charged in Toronto’s latest shooting

On Thursday, December 23, 2010, at 2:50 a.m., police responded to a call for shots fired at 15 Brunel Court.

It is alleged that:

– two groups of men became involved in a verbal confrontation which escalated into a firearm being discharged twice,

– one of the rounds entered a seventh-floor unit through a tenant’s living room window,

– the men fled from the area in a car,

– the car fled onto the Gardiner Expressway and was seen by a highway traffic officer travelling at 140 km/hr,

– the car crashed on the South Kingsway off-ramp after a short police pursuit,

– during the crash, one of the occupants threw a .40 calibre semi-automatic weapon out of the passenger window, later seized by police,

– the driver and the passengers were then arrested by police.

Gary Dacres, 39, of Mississauaga, has been charged with:
1) Fail To Stop for Police,
2) Dangerous Operation,
3) Impaired Driving,
4) Refuse Breath Sample,
5) Possession of a Firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized,
6) Unauthorized presence of a firearm in a motor vehicle,
7) Possession of a Prohibited Weapon obtained by Crime,
8) Fail To Comply Recognizance,
9) Possession of a Firearm contrary to Prohibition Order.

Addie Downey, 33, of Toronto, has been charged with:
1) two counts of Discharge Firearm Endanger Life,
2) Pointing a Firearm,
3) Careless use of a Firearm,
4) Weapons Dangerous,
5) Mischief Under,
6) Possession of a Firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized,
7) Unauthorized presence of a firearm in a motor vehicle,
8) Unauthorized possession of a Firearm,
9) Possession of a Prohibited Weapon obtained by Crime,
10) two counts of Obstruct peace Officer,
11) Personation with Intent

Cory Fraser, 34, of Toronto, has been charged with:
1) Possessions of a Firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized,
2) Unauthorized presence of a firearm in a motor vehicle,
3) Possession of a Prohibited weapon Obtained by Crime,
4) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm.

They were scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall, on Friday, December 24, 2010, room 101, at 10 a.m.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance locating any additional victims or witnesses.
