House fire kills a woman in Kitwanga, British Columbia

On December 26th, 2010 at 10:30 am, the New Hazelton RCMP received a call to assist the fire department in Kitwanga, British Columbia. The Gitwangak Village Fire Department reported a single residence structure fire on School Road. The body of a deceased female was found inside of the residence upon the fire department attendance. The BC Coroners Service is currently investigating the circumstances involved in the females death, there are no indication of the death being suspicious at this time.  The New Hazelton RCMP Detachment will work alongside the Coroner to assist in determining the cause of the fire and death.
 
No further details regarding the identity of the 47 year old woman is being released at this time pending the completion of the notification of her next of kin.
