Toronto woman dies after being hit by two vehicles

On Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at 5:34 p.m., police responded to a personal injury collision at Steeles Avenue East/Silver Star Boulevard.

It is reported that:

– a 75-year-old-man, driving a Ford Windstar van, was travelling eastbound on Steeles Avenue East, across the intersection of Silver Star Boulevard,

– a 30 year-old-woman was crossing Steeles Avenue East, from the south to the north side, on the east side of the intersection,

– the van struck the woman, knocking her to the ground,

-a second vehicle, reported to be a late-model Toyota Corolla, travelling northbound on Silver Star Boulevard, made a right turn onto Steeles Avenue East and also struck the woman, who was still on the ground,

– the second vehicle continued eastbound, failing to remain at the scene of the collision.

The woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

She succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday, December 29, 2010.
