The Vancouver Police Property Crime Unit is announcing an arrest in connection with a sophisticated property crime ring operating throughout Vancouver. Police closed in on a home at 2755 East 27th Avenue Wednesday afternoon and executed a search warrant after a lengthy investigation that began in November. A Vancouver man is facing charges relating to a major seizure of stolen property.

On November 12th of this year, a home on the southwest side of Vancouver was broken into and nearly $100,000 in property was taken. Investigators from the VPD Property Crime Unit launched a major investigation which culminated on Wednesday with a search warrant being executed in the basement suite of 2755 East 27th Avenue.

A wide variety of property and valuables were seized by police, including 15 high-end bicycles, snowboards, a dozen laptops, jewellery, valuable gems, sporting equipment, chainsaws, commercial audio equipment, a surveyor kit, generators, numerous pieces of personal identification and multiple credit cards. Two rifle barrels and some additional gun parts were also seized.

Allegedly the home was being used as a warehouse for stolen goods and all of the property was catalogued and sorted by item. VPD property crime investigators will now be turning their attention to reuniting owners with their stolen property and further charges may result in coming weeks.

Forty-six year old Andrew Cross of Vancouver is charged with break and enter, possession of stolen property, possession for the purpose of trafficking, deal with identity document without lawful excuse, identity theft, unauthorized use of credit card data, and possession or use of a stolen credit card. He will appear in court later today. Cross is known to police.
