On Wednesday, 2011 January 5, at approximately 6:00pm, several aircraft, including commercial aircraft with passengers on-board, reported an individual was shining a green coloured laser at them from an area near the Home Depot at the Shawnessy Shopping Centre in the City’s Southwest.
Calgary Police ground units, as well as the HAWCS helicopter moved into the area in an attempt to locate the offender, however, they were unsuccessful.
One flight crew that was targeted described the offender as possibly an adult male with a dog, and when he left the area he did so in a Jeep Cherokee type vehicle.
Calgary Police are continuing their investigation and are seeking public assistance in identifying this culprit.
