Colton Ashton McMORRIS, 18, of Maple Ridge has been charged with sexual assault, contrary to Section 271 of the Criminal Code.
Dennis John Allen WARRINGTON, 19, of Langley has been charged under Criminal Code Sec. 163.1 (2) for the production of the child pornography and Sec. 163.1 (3) for the distribution of child pornography.
Both men have been released on a promise to appear, with several conditions, and are scheduled to be in court January 12.
A 16-year-old boy is already before the courts on charges related to this investigation. The Maple Ridge boy was charged in Fall 2010 under Criminal Code Sec. 163.1 (2) for the production of the child pornography and Sec. 163.1 (3) for the distribution of child pornography.
“When we began this investigation, we made a point of speaking out strongly against what had happened to the young female victim,” said RCMP Sgt. Peter Thiessen, media relations officer for the Lower Mainland District Regional Police Service. “We, and many others in the community, were outraged by the distribution of photos through online social media – photos that continually revictimized this young girl.”
“Ridge Meadows RCMP devoted significant resources to this case and pursued an extensive number of investigative avenues, consulting with the Integrated Child Exploitation Team, and the RCMP Tech Crime Unit,” said Sgt. Thiessen. “We hope the family and the community can have some measure of closure now that charges against these two individuals have been laid.”
Ridge Meadows RCMP do not anticipate making any further arrests on this case, unless new information is brought to their attention.
