TTC streetcar drags man to his death, Toronto

The Toronto Police Service is investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian and a TTC streetcar.

It is reported that:

– on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at approximately 10:20 a.m., a man came into contact with a streetcar, which was traveling westbound on Queen Street West, near Bathurst Street,

– the man ended up underneath the streetcar, and was carried for several blocks,

– the streetcar driver was alerted to the situation and stopped near Claremont Street.

Emergency services responded and the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The Regional Coroner attended the scene, and the deceased was taken to the Coroner’s Office for a post-mortem examination.

The identity of the deceased is unknown at this time.
