Officers from 12 Division’s Neighbourhood Policing Unit arrested an armed man after a violent struggle, during which he attempted to stab and disarm them.

On Monday, January 10, 2010, at 1:23 p.m., police responded to the Rockwood Mall, located on Dixie Road, for a complaint of a man with a weapon. On arrival, officers spotted the suspect – who fled on foot.

After a brief chase, officers were able to catch up to the suspect. At this time, the suspect produced a sharp stake-like object and made several attempts to stab one of the officers in the chest. The officer suffered minor injuries as a result, but was able to continue with his efforts to subdue the suspect. During this struggle, the suspect then attempted to disarm one of the officers to gain possession of his handgun. Fortunately, this attempt failed.

Andre FORD, an 18 year-old resident of Mississauga has been charged with Attempt Murder, Disarming a Peace Officer and several weapons related charges. He was held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on Tuesday, January 11, 2011.

  1. Half of this is probably made up by police. He prolly ran so the cops beat him up..and r now covering shit up. Tough pigs, beating on teenagers.
