Vancouver Police are announcing another arrest with a local connection to the 2010 international investigation dubbed Project Sanctuary.
On January 11th, 2011, the Vancouver Police Department Vice Unit executed a search warrant and arrested 40 year old Kenneth Douglas Sather of Vancouver in connection with the Toronto Police Service investigation called Project Sanctuary. This ongoing project is focusing on finding and arresting people allegedly involved in the possession and distribution of child pornography.
Sather has been charged with two counts of distribution of child pornography and three counts of possession of child pornography. He was in court yesterday and has since been released from custody with a number of strict conditions, including:
- not to be within 50 metres of any public park, playground, elementary or secondary school, swimming pool, arcade, daycare centre or any other place where people under the age of 18 years might reasonably be expected to be present
- no contact with any person under the age of 18 years unless that person’s parent or guardian is present
- not to access the internet in any place where public internet access is provided either free of charge or for a fee, unless such access is at your place of work or for work purposes
- not to subscribe to or continue to subscribe to any internet provider service except for work purposes or while at your place of work
- not to possess a computer system or device including an I-phone and Blackberry within the meaning of sec. 342.1(2) of the Criminal Code of Canada if it is connected to the internet, nor are you to possess any device capable of accessing the internet except while at your place of work or for work purposes
- not to possess any routers or other similar computer equipment, except at your place of work or for work purposes
- allow members of the Vancouver Police Department to enter his residence without notice between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. to ensure compliance with the conditions relating to computers
