On Friday January 7, 2010 at approximately 12 p.m., officers from West Division responded to a 9-1-1 call in the vicinity of Salem Road and Taunton Road in Ajax. A 40-year-old woman was shopping in the area and noticed a white male, wearing sunglasses, with short brown hair and a goatee, watching her from a silver Nissan Quest van.
The female did not know the male but he kept following her in his vehicle as she attended various retail locations. She began to fear for her safety.
Police were called and West Division officers arrested the male suspect in the parking lot of a shopping plaza close to where the victim was parked. Investigators believe he had been fondling himself inside his vehicle while following the victim. Officers seized a cell phone and camera.
John Darryl HAYMAN, age 41 of Whitby is charged with Criminal Harassment.
