On Saturday January 15th, 2011, members of the ACTION Team were deployed in the area commonly referred to as the Downtown Hamilton Core. At approximately 7:30 p.m., ACTION officers were walking on King St. W. near Bay St. and noticed a verbal altercation taking place between two men. As the officers approached the men a black firearm was seen in the hand of one of the men. The suspect was threatening the other man, a 27 yr. old Hamilton man. Officers instructed the suspect to drop the gun. The suspect threw the gun into a snow bank and continued to walk away from the officers. The officers pursued the suspect and arrested him. The firearm was recovered from the snow bank. Nobody was harmed in this incident.
The arrested man was searched and found to be in possession of a knife. Further examination of the firearm revealed that it was a Crossman BB gun that resembles a Glock firearm.
