On Thursday, Jan. 13 at approximately 9:30 p.m., EPS officers responded to several calls from concerned citizens reporting a large front-end loader (grader) driving erratically in the area of 97 Street and Yellowhead Trail.

Reports to police by citizens indicated that the grader was being operated in a reckless manner, swerving in the lanes, driving atop snow piled on the shoulder and generating fear in motorists.

Police attempted to initiate a stop of the grader, which was being driven east bound on Yellowhead Trail. It was not engaged in snow removal at the time. The operator drove the machine into an alley near 124 Avenue where it eventually stopped. It was then confirmed the driver of the grader was working for a private firm contracted by the City for snow removal.

Chanler Parker, 28, of Edmonton, has been charged with Impaired operation of a motor vehicle blowing over 80 mg% and driving while suspended.
