Police Investigating Incident at High School

Investigators in the HRP/RCMP Integrated General Investigation Section, with assistance from the area Community Response Officer and School Response Officer, are investigating two suspicious incidents that occurred earlier this week at Charles P. Allen High School.

Police were contacted yesterday afternoon about two incidents that took place on Monday at approximately 2:15 p.m. inside the school. The incidents involved plastic bottles being filled with substances designed to cause a chemical reaction when mixed. One bottle was placed in a garbage can and the other was placed in a vacant locker. In both cases, the bottles ruptured, however, no injuries or damage resulted.

A 17-year-old male has been arrested in relation to these incidents and the investigation is on-going.

Update – January 19,2011 (2:11 p.m.)
The youth arrested this morning in relation to this incident has been released and will appear in Halifax Youth Court at a later date to face charges of mischief and using explosives.
