The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance with an ongoing fraud investigation into a pre-paid snow-removal scheme targeting seniors.

It is alleged that:

– the suspect attended homes in the North York area, offering snow-removal services for the remainder of the winter,

– the suspect requested advance payment, typically in cash, varying from $60 to $180,

– the work was never done.

On Monday, January 24, 2011, Elman Iakhiiaev, 30, of Toronto, was charged with eight counts of Fraud Under.

He is scheduled to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West on Monday, February 14, 2011, room 302, 10 a.m.

Investigators believe there may be more victims.
