Seven charged in child pornography raid in London

Numerous charges were laid across Southern Ontario on Tuesday January 25, 2011 following a massive, coordinated, child pornography investigation under the Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the Internet. In a provincial strategy joint police investigation, involving members of the London Police Service Cyber Crime Unit, the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Section, OPP Electronic Crime Section and the Waterloo Regional Police Service, several search warrants were executed in the London and Waterloo areas.

A total of 7 search warrants were executed, resulting in 47 charges against 7 persons. Charges include accessing child pornography, possession of child pornography, distribution of child pornography, luring, making available child pornography, production of child pornography and various drug offences.

The following persons have been arrested and charged:

1. Ian Twigg (22) of London
– unlawfully possess child pornography
– accessing child pornography
– possession of marihuana (.5g)

2. Douglas Weir (64) of London
– computer contact with a person under 18 for a criminal purpose (luring)
– 5 counts of computer contact with a person under 16 for a criminal purpose (luring)

3. Gilbert Gilbert (44) of London
– 4 counts of making available child pornography
– 5 counts of unlawfully possess child pornography
– accessing child pornography
– possession marihuana (5.5g)

4. Todd Wilson (44) of London
– 4 counts of unlawfully possess child pornography
– 3 counts of making available child pornography
– accessing child pornography
-possession marihuana (.5g)

5. Young person – 15 year old male from London
-5 counts of unlawfully possess child pornography
– 5 counts of making available child pornography
– production of child pornography
– accessing child pornography
– voyeurism

6. Young person – 17 year old male from Waterloo Region
– unlawfully possess child pornography
– accessing child pornography
– distribution of child pornography

7. Marc Rempel (35) of Waterloo
– unlawfully possess child pornography
– accessing child pornography
– distribution of child pornography
