Edmonton Drug and Gang Enforcement (EDGE) investigators continue to search for three men wanted in connection with the seizure of approximately $850,000 worth of methamphetamine, other drugs, cash, weapons and bullet proof vests in January 2010.
Background:
On January 29, 2010, EDGE investigators conducted search warrants on four Edmonton residences. Three residences were in the Liberty Building on 105 Street and Jasper Avenue, and the fourth was at 80 Avenue and 101 Street. Project ‘Guardian’ involved numerous officers and began in November 2009.
Over the course of the investigation, officers seized:
- 8.5 kilos methamphetamine (estimated street value of $850,000 if sold per gram)
- Approximately 2 pounds of marijuana ($9,100 street value if sold per gram)
- Over 1,500 ecstasy pills (approx. $15,000 street value if sold per pill)
- Approximately four ounces of cocaine
- 13 firearms
- Over $72,000 in cash
- 4 bullet proof vests
- Drug packaging materials
Canada-wide warrants have been issued for the following individuals who have evaded police for the past year:
Derek Joseph Chambers, 29
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x4), trafficking, production, careless storage (x13), unauthorized possession of a firearm (x13), possession of a firearm obtained by crime (x6), possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition (x9), firearms trafficking/manufacturing (x3), and possession of a restricted firearm with serial number removed (x2).
Martin Vu, 28
- Possession of marijuana, possession of a prohibited firearm contrary to order (x2), production, possession for the purpose of trafficking (x3), careless storage (x13), unauthorized possession of a firearm (x13), possession of a firearm obtained by crime (x6), possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition (x9), firearms trafficking/manufacturing (x3), and possession of a restricted firearm with serial number removed (x2).
Emerson Omar Huine, 33
- Production, possession for the purpose of trafficking (x3), careless storage (x13), unauthorized possession of a firearm (x13), possession of a firearm obtained by crime (x6), possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition (x9), firearms trafficking/manufacturing (x3), and possession of a restricted firearm with serial number removed (x2).
