Woman dies after being hit by a Mountie cruiser, Surrey

A motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian and an on duty Surrey RCMP member which occurred near the intersection of 98 Ave and King George Blvd. in Surrey at approximately 9:40 pm (Monday night), is now the subject of an Abbotsford Police Department investigation.

Cpl. Drew Grainger of the Surrey RCMP states a female, not in a crosswalk, was attempting to cross the street when she was struck by a Surrey RCMP cruiser. The 18 year old female has tragically succumbed to injuries sustained in that collision and was pronounced deceased at a regional hospital.

The RCMP member was not injured in this collision.

A comprehensive investigation is ongoing. Investigators are expected to be on scene well into the day.
