A North Vancouver man with gang affiliations is in hospital recovering from gun shot wounds following an early morning shooting in Vancouver.

Shortly before 4:00 a.m., multiple callers to 9-1-1 reported hearing several gun shots followed by a motor vehicle collision near West 37th and Oak Street. Police arrived to find a 30 year old man in the street, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. A car was located nearby on the sidewalk where it came to rest after apparently striking a parked vehicle and then mounting the curb. No suspects have been located following an extensive search of the area by VPD K9 and Emergency Response Team members.

The scene remains cordoned off while VPD Forensic Identification Unit members conduct their investigation. A neighbourhood canvass will take place later this morning for additional witnesses and any discarded evidence.
