Update to today’s earlier Report of Train Collision in Pictou County

Collision occurred at an unmarked railway crossing at the Concorde Road, Glengarry Station, near Lansdowne Pictou County.

Train involved was owned by Cape Breton Railway destined for Truro and was carrying 76 storage cars with 3 engines. The train remained on the track throughout this event.

The Pontiac Sunfire incurred front end damage resulting from the collision. There were no occupants of the vehicle at time of collision, no injuries were sustained.

Pictou County District RCMP are continuing with the investigation to determine the cause of the collision.

Background:

Members of the RCMP Pictou County District have responded to a collision between a freight train and an automobile.

At approximately 11:09 am today, RCMP received a report about a collision that occurred at Glengarry Station Crossing. RCMP have confirmed the vehicle was vacant at the time of the collision, no injuries were sustained and no derailment has occurred.
