The Calgary Police Service Robbery Unit has charged one man with attempted murder, assault and robbery after an incident earlier this week.

On Monday, Feb. 7, 2011, at approximately 6:25 p.m., a group of men and women were at a gathered in an apartment unit located in the 1300 block of 1 Street S.W.

For reasons yet to be determined by investigators, one of the men allegedly attacked the resident of the apartment with a knife.

The 54-year-old male victim was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A suspect was located a short distance away from the scene by uniformed officers and arrested.

Initially, investigators believed the incident was a home invasion robbery, however it has since been determined that the assault and robbery was likely drug related.

Robert Darryl MORRISON, 42, has been charged with attempted murder, three counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of robbery and one count of threats to kill.
