Toronto taxi driver stabbed, suspect caught on camera

On Monday, February 14, 2011, at 8 p.m., police responded to a call for a robbery in the Yonge Street/Sheppard Avenue West area.

It is reported that:

– a cab driver picked up a man and was directed to drive to the Yonge Street/Sheppard Avenue West area,

– the man attempted to rob the cab driver,

– a struggle ensued between the two men,

– the man stabbed the cab driver several times in the face,

– the man then fled the scene.

The cab driver, a 58-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as white, 20-30. He was last seen wearing a ski jacket.
