Mohand Mohamed and Maryam Torabipour charged in the murder of Arash Elijah Bakhtaryani, Richmond Hill

Members working out of the York Regional Police Homicide Unit, with the assistance of members of  the Ottawa Police Service, have arrested two Richmond Hill residents in connection with the January  21 murder of a 27-year-old Toronto man.

On Monday, February 21, 2011, Mohand MOHAMED, 31, of Richmond Hill, was arrested for FirstDegree Murder at a residence in the City of Ottawa. A Canada-Wide Warrant was issued for Mr.  Mohamed on Friday, January 28, 2011, in connection with the murder of Arash Elijah BAKHTARYANI, 27, of Toronto.

The investigation led the York Regional Police Homicide Unit to the Ottawa area where Mr. Mohamed was arrested without incident with the assistance of the Ottawa Police Service. Also  arrested was Maryam TORABIPOUR, 26, of Richmond Hill, for Accessory After the Fact to Murder.  

Both accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on Tuesday, February  22, 2011.

On Friday, January 21, 2011, at 11:15 p.m., York Regional Police responded to a 9-1-1 call  regarding a shooting at the Paradise Banquet Hall located at 7601 Jane Street in the City of  Vaughan. Officers arrived on scene and located Mr. Bakhtaryani suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Maryam TORABIPOUR, 26, of Richmond  Hill

CHARGES:

First Degree Murder
Accessory After the Fact to Murder
