The westbound Gardiner Expressway near Dowling Avenue was the scene of a collision Monday morning just after 6am where a car went off the road, over a grassy median and up onto the tracks. It was struck by an oncoming GO train.

The female driver was very lucky. The police were quoted as saying that to survive one accident is a miracle but to survive two one after another is amazing. Apparently the driver got stuck on the tracks but had time to exit the vehicle before it was hit by the train. She jumped out and watched the train into her car. The car is smashed but the train is merely scratched.

There were some train delays but everything was cleared up by 10:30am.
