Welsh First Minister Carwyn JonesThe first minister of Wales, Carwyn Jones has presented an outline of what he and his party, Welsh Labour party are looking forward to achieve in Government.

Jones has announced a series of policy initiatives, aim to design and create “a fairer and more prosperous country”. Creation of a Welsh Jobs Fund is one of the measures that is designed to provide 4,000 six month long placements for young people, working 25 hours a week on at least the minimum wage. This is to combat the recently witnessed increase in unemployment across Wales to 8.4%.

Other proposed measures include an increased spending on front line schooling. And an increase in the volume of public sector land availability to build new affordable homes. Also to publicize anti-poverty action plan by the next year. Jones is of the view to adopt this new approach for the economic and environmental well-being of the community. He has also given the surety for continuous reporting on the progress to public on annual basis to maintain a transparency of the government achievements. This will also help people to asses the whole progress and the improvements made.

However, Jones’ road map for Government is facing heavy criticism from opposition parties for being “meaningless” and not setting clear targets. Leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats, Kirsty Williams said that Labour had already delayed in over publishing its plans, which were “too vague”, light on details and also does not contain a single meaningful target. Leader of Plaid Cymru, Ieuan Wyn Jones has given his view by stating that economic state of Wales is declining constantly and government seems to be clueless to help in building the economy and acting aimlessly.
