A millionaire from Llanellen, Monmouthshire, 54-year-old Peter Morgan, confessed in Newport Crown Court to have killed a £10,000-a-month escort, 25-year-old Miss Symonds, and led police to her bound-up body. The jurors were told on Tuesday that Mr. Morgan handed over keys to a farm workshop to officers investigating Georgina Symonds’ disappearance and said that “you will need those keys – she’s locked in the outhouse.”
The investigation has revealed that the married father-of-two strangled Miss Symonds in January, after their three-year-long relationship ended. He is facing charges of murdering the former burlesque dancer in the bungalow where she lived in the grounds of the castle he owned. According to the proceedings in the court, Mr. Morgan tied Ms Symonds’ body to a metal pole so he could carry her to his car and then drove it 15 miles from Pencoed Castle, Llanmartin, to Beech Hill Farm, near Usk, and wrapped it in plastic.
Prosecutor William Hughes QC was told that “Peter Morgan made an unsolicited comment, he said calmly: ‘I can’t take it. I need to tell you I strangled her this morning’.” In his remarks, Mr Hughes claimed that police officers saw the plastic sheets but “the officers were unable to see what was inside the sheeting so a small incision was made and once this had been undertaken the officers saw the feet of a human body.” Thereafter, “each of Georgina’s lower legs had been individually bound with black duct tape around the upper calf to hold the knee to the thigh – this was done to ensure Georgina’s body would comfortable fit within the dimensions of the Porsche Cayenne’s boot.”
