Two people has died and nine got injured on Wednesday after a helicopter crashed into the crane at the top of a building in the St George Wharf development in Vauxhall, central London – a week after pilots were cautioned regarding the presence of the crane on the high rise tower.

Eyewitnesses told to have seen a “massive ball of flames” and an ear-piercing “explosion” after the helicopter plunged more than 700 feet to the ground just after 8am in the Vauxhall area of London during rush hour in misty conditions.

The Metropolitan Police have confirmed the death of two people at the scene. One of them was the pilot. However, the second dead body has not been identified as yet but it appeared that this person had not been aboard the flight but a bystander. The London Ambulance Service has told nine people were suffering from only minor injuries, and none was serious.

Police authorities have told a scheduled commercial flight from Redhill, just south of London, to Elstree, just north of the capital, collided with the crane being used to construct a luxury apartment block beside the river Thames.

The crash site is located nearby MI6’s headquarters, raising fears of a bomb attack due to noisy explosion but the police quickly ruled out the suggestions of any terrorism attack.

Investigations are underway to conclude the Agusta 109 civilian helicopter aircraft crash, in the St George Wharf development, known as one of Europe’s tallest residential towers.
