Rebecca ThompsonThe father of 11-year-old girl, Rebbeca Thompson found strangled in her home has been charged with daughter’s murder.

Simon Jonathan Thompson, 52, of Homefield Road in Bushey, Hertfordshire, is accused of killing his daughter. The girl is believed to have lain dead for more than 12 hours before her body was found by her devastated mother, Mary, on Saturday June 22.

Just a few hours before the incident, Mr. Thompson was rushed to hospital with serious injuries his car ploughed into trees on a roundabout at high speed. He had entered no plea at Hatfield Remand Court and was remanded in custody until Tuesday when he is due to appear at St Albans Crown Court.

He was in a wheelchair, having been in hospital following a car crash.

His left hand was in a cast and his legs were bandaged.

It is believed that police have visited the home in Bushey, Hertfordshire, after locating the father with leg injuries after the car accident – but left after getting no response from the other side.

Mr. Thompson will now appear at Hatfield Magistrates Court this morning.

Rebecca’s head-teacher paid tribute to the schoolgirl. The head of Sacred Heart Primary School, Rita Cooper has  said: “It is with great sadness that we heard of the death of Rebecca who was in Year Six at Sacred Heart.

“Rebecca was a lovely girl who was hard-working and did well in her learning. She was looking forward to secondary school.

“The whole school is very distressed by this tragedy and our thoughts are with her family and friends.”
