Britons are facing more power-cuts and travel chaos as severe rainy weather and 100mph gales returned to batter Britain overnight.

The Met Office has issued fresh severe weather warnings across several parts of the U.K. until 21:00 GMT on Friday.

The Environment Agency has issued more than 50 flood warnings that “expected requiring immediate action” and at least 150 flood alerts at various parts of Britain. The number of warnings in place is also expected to plunge in the next few hours.

The agency has said: “It is possible that heavy rain may worsen the current flooding situation in some areas with rivers responding quickly to rain falling on already saturated ground.”

Numerous flights have either been cancelled or diverted due to bad weather. The gales have also uprooted many trees resulting in the roads’ closure.

It is also reported that more than 43,000 people suffering from power-cuts following Monday night’s storm and around 1,200 properties were flooded in England.

The Met Office has told that Northern England and the northern regions of Wales will possibly experience the worst effects of the new Atlantic storm. Many air and train travelling services are also observing delays.

Network Rail has advised that routes will need an assessment at first light and tracks will need to be cleared of any fallen trees and any damages need some fixing before train services can be reopened.
