With the Scottish independence referendum just three days away, Queen Elizabeth II has advised the Scots to “think very carefully about the future” before casting their precious vote.

The monarch has commented following attendance at a Sunday morning church service at Crathie Kirk near her Balmoral estate.

According to reports, the Queen has told a well-wisher in the crowd outside church in Aberdeenshire in Scotland yesterday: “Well, I hope people will think very carefully about the future.”

It has been recently announced by the Buckingham Palace that the monarch plans to remain neutral about the voting. The reports say that she refuses to take calls from Conservative Party lawmakers to discuss her views and intervening in the Scottish independence referendum debate. She is also known for her deep love for Scotland.

A statement from Buckingham Palace earlier this week reads: “The sovereign’s constitutional impartiality is an established principle of our democracy and one which the Queen has demonstrated throughout her reign.

“As such the monarch is above politics and those in political office have a duty to ensure this remains the case.

“Any suggestion that the Queen would wish to influence the outcome of the current referendum campaign is categorically wrong. Her Majesty is simply of the view this is a matter for the people of Scotland.”

The historic referendum which is to take place on September 18 will decide the future of the 307-year-old union in 18 months.

A poll revealed last week that ‘No’ campaign narrowly leads ‘Yes’ campaign with 53% against 47% after eliminating the undecided voters.
