Russell Brand vs Nigel Farage on Question TimeU.K. Independence Party leader Nigel Farage and the comedian turned activist Russell Brand engaged in clash during a heated debate over immigration at Question Time on Thursday night.

Brand, 39, has claimed that immigration should not be held responsible for the current problems in Britain.

The anti-politics campaigner has branded the Ukip leader a “pound shop Enoch Powell” – the Conservative politician who is widely remembered for his 1968 “rivers of blood” speech on immigration, as the pair clashed on television discussion.

The heated exchanges started after Mr Farage has insisted Britain was “overcrowded” and immigration was driving down people’s quality of life.

The Ukip leader has rejected an Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) board member’s suggesstion that Britain has “masses” of room to accommodate immigrants, and said: “If you fly into Gatwick you will see lots of green spaces, that is certainly true.

“However, if you have a country in which the population goes up as a direct result of immigration, what you find is not a shortage of green fields … you find a shortage of primary school place, you find a shortage of GP surgeries.”

However, the comedian hit back immediately and said: “I sometimes feel worried about you, Nigel Farage.

“Let me tell you something. There was an economic crash and a lot of money was lost.

“His mates in the city farted, Nigel Farage is pointing at the immigrants and the disabled and holding his nose.

“Immigrants are not causing the economic problems.

“As much as any of us I enjoy seeing Nigel Farage in a boozer with a pint and a fag laughing off his latest scandals about breastfeeding or whatever, I enjoy it.

“But this man is not a cartoon character. He ain’t Del Boy. He ain’t Arthur Daley. He is a pound shop Enoch Powell, and we’ve got to watch him.”
